Fall 2011    MINDBENDER MANSION

Enter the wonderfully puzzling world of Mindbender Mansion, an eclectic place full of brainteasers and interactive challenges guaranteed to test the brain power and problem solving skills of even the most experienced puzzlers.  Visitors to this fun and quirky mansion are invited to join the Mindbender Society by gathering hidden clues and secret passwords scattered throughout the various thematic rooms of the house.  Visitors are encouraged to think outside the box and collaborate with their fellow mansion guests to meet individual and group challenges, which include manipulating a tilt table, forming patterns in rolling chairs, keeping up with a conveyer belt, maneuvering a flying machine, and disco hopscotch spelling. 

Spring 2012    CREATURES OF THE ABYSS

Descend to the deepest parts of the ocean with the new Science North special exhibition Creatures of the Abyss! Discover the extraordinary, mysterious, and downright strange creatures of the deep. Entangle yourself in the tentacles of a life-sized model of a colossal squid -- the largest known species of squid! Step inside the Bioluminescence Theatre and find out how the creatures of the abyss produce fantastic colored light shows to see and communicate in complete darkness! Hitch a virtual ride with Alvin, the world's first deep-ocean submersible vehicle. Catch the spirit of exploration as you travel alongside scientists as they discover fascinating new creatures of the abyss.

Summer 2012    GOOSE BUMPS!

Goose Bumps! provides an experiential and holistic view of fear science, examining physiological, neurobiological, and sociological aspects of fear. Engaging activities in Goose Bumps! allow visitors to experience fear in a safe and enjoyable environment, rate their response, understand the science behind the emotion, and reflect upon its personal meaning. Goose Bumps! provides an immersive experience within several conceptual areas, each with a distinctive look and feel to reinforce its educational messages.

 

Hours of Operation:

Space Center Houston is open every day of the year, with the exception of December 25.

Summer: June 10am - 7pm, July 9am - 7pm, August 10am-5pm, 10am - 7pm Weekends

Winter: Mon - Fri 10am - 5pm, Sat - Sun 10am - 6pm
